"Kinyu Rival!" ( Financial Rival! )

The main theme is the story of two men, Ichiro Yamada, the hero and Takuya Aoyama, his rival. Both of these characters meet in Tokyo for the first time after leaving traditional Japanese securities companies to join EURO-USA Securities (Japan branch). They both start out as VP and the rivalry story follows both of them to see which one becomes a Managing Director first within their Division in Tokyo.

There are several points of interest with our story that readers can learn from the characters. The culture of international investment banks is rather unique. It is a working life that is full of personalities. This comic allows readers to get a more realistic idea of what kind of talented people find themselves working together within investment banking. It is a very high pressured environment focused on profit from innovation and ideas combined with speed and the ability to think "out of the box" to get around problems to maximize profit at every possible level. Many of the characters in Kinyu Rival are based on combinations always based on real people who have participated in the market. They are real and have emotions, feelings, and even interests that often conflict or compliment their work daily. Keep watch for how the story develops and the search for the true reason why Oyama was killed in part one. It will reveal a Japanese economy that is in need of reform both internally and externally and the people that will help or hinder the process.

Part 1 Introduction: Our story begins with our hero Ichiro Yamada, prop trader at EURO-USA Securities and the team that he works with. This includes his rival Takuya Aoyama, the internationalized silver spooned son of a Bank of Japan president with a flair for office politics. We discover how recruiter Nick Kaneko calls him one day with an opportunity that will change his life forever. He also discovers a possible love interest in Maki Machida, another marketer on his team, still single at 33. The pace of change is fast as he discovers his first day when the resignation of Oyama takes and place and is reacted to immediately only to be followed by his later death that evening in a car accident, or so it seems. Part 2 The welcome dinner or "kan gei kai" is organized by Dino Ferrari, for the two new members of the team. Yamada learns his first lesson in office politics when Maki Machida is moved in on by his rival. They discover that one of the old accounts is in trouble, the same one that Aoyama heard about from his father. Yamada surprises all when he reveals a hidden wine expertise, putting his rival off guard. the evening wears on and plenty of wine is consumed, Taj Mahal lets one of his suspicions slip. Part 3 The summer hits Tokyo and the exodus south for Shimoda begins on the weekends again. The FX markets pick up and Jean makes a conference call to a hedge fund guru, George Surus, to his plane. The Yen/US$ is in play and FX trader Sydney Cash arrives from the Australian branch for a few weeks. She speaks fluent Japanese and seems very at home in Japan. Later we see that she has a cousin living in Tokyo called Kylie who may change from hostessing to exotic dancing soon. The desk meets again in Shimoda at the Ernest House for a relaxing weekend and beers at the Paradise Cafe. Taj points out Jay P. Morgan, the IT head who may help them look into Oyama's PC for clues on his death. To his total surprise, Yamada finds that beer does wonders and find that he may have a chance with Sydney. Part 4 It got complicated for Yamada over the weekend in Shimoda, more than he ever could have expected. Life itself is a gamble for a dealer like Yamada. He loves risk and gambled with on a company love affair with FX dealer Sydney Cash from Australia. He doesn't know if he will win or lose after beers at the Paradise cafe. Taj looks into a secret hunch about some company bonds on the books. However, before he can investigate into Oyama's e-mail with Jay. He needed approvable from Saburo Kato, the HR manager to check e-mail. Yaz Honda, the president of EURO-USA had Taj first sign a confidentiality agreement before he could open Oyama's old e-mail. Nobody expected this Pandora's box. The dark true character of the Oyama becomes clear gradually, and a serious problem with real or fake corporate bonds is discovered. It is part of a dark and dangerous secret undeworld without an exit. A place of intrigue that triggers a call to the Japanese mafia, the Yakuza!

Part 5 The Rainmaker. EURO-USA seeks new sales blood to fill a dead man's shoes. This financial rainmaker is needed for a drought of quality sales flows. Dino head of sales, has hooked a big one, a superstar with fanatic power. His name is Kenji Mukai and he is not only a talented marketer, but with looks on top .He is totally motivated to expand the EURO-USA Securities group with a flood of new P/L from now on. Although known to the marketing staff, and lawyer Tanaka, who writes his contract, NASA is not in the loop. That does not stop him as he knows where to find the inside scoop on any quality hire, the best recruiter in Japan, Nick Kaneko. After a quick call to a mobile, his suspicions are confirmed and the secret rainmaker is discovered. More things develop as it now seems that with the fake bonds discovered, an investigation must be stopped. In a first-class flight from Bangkok to Tokyo, professional killer assassin "the cobra" prepares his moves for Taj Mahal under Yakuza orders. As Taj tells of a fake bond discovery, little does he know, a killer is on the way targetting him. After Mukai's welcome party over follow up drinks at Trading Places, his ability to bring in the coming P/L flood leaks out. A Tsunami of flows is soon to follow as car racing will bring new high profile exposure to the EURO-USA group. Ichiro, Takuya, Maki, and the rest of the team and key clients are all impressed. Dino feels that the only danger is on the track, but from a far, danger lurks with a deadly eye on Taj.
